Country Ownership

The Health Information Systems (HIS) Forum provides countries with a platform for assuming greater country ownership by building cohesive country leadership teams that involve all sectors with a stake in national HIS. As part of taking ownership, each team forms an understanding of the current status of HIS in its country and creates a common vision for an effective national health information system. Building on ongoing efforts to strengthen national HIS – work that is often supported by international organizations and donors – forum participants develop strategies to further strengthen their national HIS. They also prepare country-led action plans, which will enable each country to reach its own vision for HIS.
